A Bubble Tea That Keeps Up With The Joneses

Year: 2020

Consumerism lures young people to value luxury items more than food and other basic needs. For example, some people would go to the extreme of eating instant noodles for a month just to buy a luxury bag. In this artwork, I created a bag in the shape of bubble tea cup to show the addictiveness of this urge to consume something that might be instantly gratifying, but unhealthy for you in the long run. I also integrated some human body organs – mouth(cup opening), esophagus(straw) and stomach(inside lining of cup) into the bag design and filled the bag with consumer goods.  Even the outside cup sleeve is made of luxury labels to emphasis the importance of these labels to luxury addicts.
